Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend, Thomas W Henze, 91, passed away peacefully from pneumonia at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, Bradford Unit in Haverhill, on December 9, 2020, surrounded by family members throughout the day and into the evening.
Thomas was born in College Point, New York in 1929, to Thomas and Anna (Altmann) Henze. He served in the United States Army; the 369th Engineer Amphibious Support Regiment (EASR) starting in 1951 where he met his future brother in law, George Rondash who introduced his three (3) sisters to his army buddies. This led to Tom marrying the former Kathleen Rondash in Bayside, New York in 1955. They eventually moved to the Lawrence area where Tom started working for AVCO Specialty Materials located in the Lawrence Mills. AVCO Specialty later would become Textron Specialty in Lowell where he worked as a chemical technical engineer holding various patents for almost 30 years.
Tom was an avid golfer, which replaced his love of ten-pin bowling after Stadium Lanes closed. He had been a Bantam and Junior league bowling coach for many years, volunteering with his wife and involvinghis children in the programs.
After retiring, Tom and his wife enjoyed traveling visiting with family in Long Island, upstate New York, including a trip to Hawaii and then in later years spending time in Florida visiting Kathleen’s brothers and sister in laws after the Christmas holidays. He was devoted to his family, enjoyed his years of retirement golfing, wood working, gardening, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years, Kathleen; his daughters, Kathleen and life partner Raymond Kahre of Carlisle MA, Teresa and husband Bill Gagnon of Haverhill; and Mary and husband Craig Hutchinson of Litchfield NH; his son John and wife Fran of Derry, NH. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Zachary, Kate, Sabrina, Bridgette, Ian and Jocelyn; and great grandson Mason; as well as, many nieces and nephews.
