Mrs. Teresa Ruiz Cora, age 83, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017.

She was born in Arroyo, Puerto Rico on October 6, 1933, daughter of late Cruz Ruiz and Carmen Cora. Teresa was known in the community for her delicious Puerto Rican cuisine. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, playing the lottery and most of all, spending time with her family."Family, all because two people fell in love" Teresa was the loving wife of Mauricio Alvarez. Together they started a family whose love is unconditional, bond unbreakable and loyalty is everything. These are the values and beliefs she exuded and left upon her family.

Teresa is survived by her loving husband Mauricio Alvarez; son Eddie; six daughters, Elizabeth, Yolanda, Elsie, Maria, Madeline and Angelina; 42 grandchildren; and 76 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Cruz Maria Ruiz and Cecilia Torres; and brother Cesario Ruiz. She was predeceased by her two sons, Jimmy and Nelson Alvarez."

Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 5 - 8 p.m. Teresa's funeral will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Patrick's Church, 118 South Broadway, Lawrence at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in Lawrence.
