Sonia Ruiz, 66, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, passed away on March 2, 2026.
Sonia was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to Maria and Teofilo. She later made her home in Lawrence, where she built a life centered around family, love, and caring for others.
Although Sonia retired early, she truly loved working with the elderly and took great pride in helping and caring for them. Her heart was always open to those who needed kindness and support.
Sonia was known for her warm and caring spirit. She loved spending time with family, playing dominoes, and sharing laughs with those around her. While she might not have always been the best domino player and Johnny could certainly tell many stories about those games, she some how made it happen. One thing everyone will remember about Sonia was her personality to know her was to love her.
More than anything, Sonia was a deeply caring person who would do anything for the people she loved. Her strength and the way she fought through life’s challenges will never be forgotten.
Sonia is survived by her loving children: Raymond Ruiz, Roberto Ruiz, Jackelyn Ruiz, and Jose Ruiz.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jadalee, Anais, Jaralynn, Jaislynn, Myalee, Kiannalyse, Alexander, Jayleece, Orlando, and Roberto, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Though life will not be the same without her, her family finds comfort knowing she is watching over them. Sonia fought with strength and courage, and that is how she will always be remembered.
