Rosa Polanco Obituary

Rosa Polanco, 94, passed on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Bedford, MA. Rosa was born on December 7, 1928 in Joba Arriba, Gaspar Hernández (Dominican Republic), to Elpidio (Blanco Pio) Mejía and Pilar Polanco. Rosa was a midwife in Joba Arriba before moving to the United States in 1993.

Rosa was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Spending time with loved ones and entertaining others brought her the greatest joy. She will be remembered for her hospitality, generosity, and bringing peace to those blessed by her company.

Rosa is survived by her children Esmeralda Dominguez and her husband Nelson Filion of Santiago (DR), Cristina McCabe and her husband Clifford McCabe of Bedford, Roselio De La Cruz and his wife Yolanda De La Cruz of Lowell, and Crecen Martínez of Alicante (Spain).
Rosa is survived by her grandchildren Celia, Freddy, Charo, Luz Divina, Rosa Iris, Benito Antonio, Mary, Rossy, Sugeiry, Ambiorix, Jocabel, Niovel, Eilyn, Eliza, Elias, Issac, Jessuly, Jamal, Jenessa, Jonathan, Yarixza, Yoly, Alex, Kevin, and Dilcia, as well as by nieces, nephews, and 55 great-grandchildren.

Rosa was preceded in death by her children Benito Gonzalez, Edilia Polanco, and Nereyda Montes, as well as her granddaughter Ingrid Gonzales.

Friends and family are invited to attend Rosa’s wake on October 18, 2023 from 4-7pm (service at 5pm) at the Diaz-Healy Funeral Home in Lawrence, MA.

In the Dominican Republic a wake will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 4-7pm and a funeral on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10am in Santiago, as well as a memorial service on October 28, 2023 at 11am in Joba Arriba, Gaspar Hernández.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to those who provided care for Rosa in her final years, especially Yolanda De La Cruz, Clifford McCabe, and Rosa’s All Care Hospice team.
