Rafael Rodriguez Canuela

Mr. Rafael Rodriguez Canuela, age 80, of Lawrence, died on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at his home. He was the loving husband of Lydia (Ramos) Rodriguez, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.

Born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Enrique Rodriguez & Julia (Canuela) Rodriguez.

In addition to his wife, Rafael is survived by 6 children, Natasha Arias, Lydia Calderon, Christopher Calderon, Sr. & his wife Loraine, Adam Calderon, Louis Calderon, & Yolanda Rodriguez; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie Soler, Carlos Soler, Jr. & his wife, Tisha Jimenez, Valerias Arias, Nyzaiah Calderon, Christopher Calderon, Jr., Amelia Calderon, Nyiesha McSwain, Margarita Calderon, Tiffany Calderon, Rafael Rodriguez, Aliah Rodriguez, & Anthony Calderon; 28 additional grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Irma Rodrgiuez; 1 brother, Carlos Rodriguez; his brother-in-law, Edwin Serrano. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, Rafael was predeceased by 5 children, Alec Rodriguez, Rafael Rodriguez, Jr., Luzbell Rodriguez, Wanda Rodriguez, & Marie Calderon; & several brothers and sisters.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 5 – 8 p.m. On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, a funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Lawrence.
