Mr. Oscar Vasquez Sanchez, age 72, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Lawrence, MA; died on Sunday, January 5th, 2025 in Boston, MA. He was the dear husband of Nieve Y. (Mota) Vasquez.
Born and raised in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic; he was the son of the late Juan Vasquez & Caridad Esperanza (Sanchez) Vasquez. A graduate of the Antillean Adventist University in Puerto Rico (Antillean College, BS in business administration), he worked for the Seventh-day Adventist Church for many years. At the Universidad Adventista Dominicana UNAD (professor and accountant); and many other positions in many places. Later in life he also worked for Carpenter & Paterson, in Woburn MA, where he made many friends and from which he retired.
A very faithful man, he was known for his generosity, hard work, and compassion towards others. In his spare time, Oscar enjoyed all aspects of nature, fishing, and music. Due to his passion for music, he learned to play the saxophone, guitar, and piano. He was also a conductor for the church choir, where he shared his enthusiasm for music and his love of God. Most of all, he was a devoted family man, loved by many.
In addition to his wife, Oscar is survived by two sisters, Elsa & Marina; his brother, Juan Luis, his sons, step sons and daughters, and many grandchildren.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 5 – 8 p.m. On Thursday, January 9, 2025, Oscar’s funeral will begin at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Lawrence.
