Mrs. Maria Mercedes Caraballo Alicea, age 77, of Haverhill, MA, died on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024 at her home in Haverhill, peacefully surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Hector Rafael Alicea.

Born and raised in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Valeriano & Filomena Caraballo Ramos. Maria Mercedes worked at Crown Service Laundromat for 15 years. She enjoyed road trips and going to Foxwoods Casino with the family. She loved cooking, having family functions, and cracking jokes that made people laugh. She had a great personality and beloved by everyone she knew and met.

Maria Mercedes is survived by four children; Hector Ivan Alicea, Miguel Angel Alicea, Maria Milagros Alicea and Edwin Alicea; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and two siblings; Ana Delia Caraballo and Liborio Caraballo. In addition to her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by two of her children, Hector Manuel Alicea and Migdalia Jacqueline Alicea; and 9 of her siblings. Relatives & friends are invited to attend visitation at the Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Lawrence.
