Mr. Lionel Joseph "Joe" Nichols, age 67, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024, with his daughter, Joanne Barry and niece, Jessica Jiles by his side.

Born on September 1, 1956 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Lyle J. Nichols, Sr. & Madeline M. (Senecal) Nichols. He moved to Lawrence, MA in 1960, and he was educated at the Oliver Jr High School and Lawrence High School. Joe worked for several years as a laborer doing siding for local home improvement companies.

He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Barry; his grandson, Mason Pearce; six siblings, Lee Nichols, Luane Roeger & her husband, John Roeger, Jr., Laurie Robinson & her husband, Steve Robinson, Jonathan Nichols, and Leslie Nichols-Hopkins; his brother in-law, Harry Simpson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, who adored him. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Lisa Nichols, Lorna Nichols, and Linda Simpson; two brothers, Lyle John Jr. and Lawrence Michael Nichols; his brother in-law, Luis Ruiz. Joe was loved by all his family and friends, he had an amazing sense of humor and always told it like it was even if you didn't agree. He will be missed by all very deeply.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 5 - 7 p.m. At the family's request, interment will be private.
