Mr. Gonzalo Walter Gutierrez, age 85, of Lawrence, died on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence. He was the loving husband of Geraldina Vargas Nuñez.

Born and raised in Riobamba, Ecuador, he was the son of the late Miguel A. Gutierrez & Rosa H. Gallardo. Walter graduated from college with a Bachelor’s Degree and worked for many years as an accountant for a fruit export company in Ecuador.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Rafael, John, and Francia; three grandchildren, Kyamalie, Higinie, and Rosangelie; five great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Kaliyah, Kayliana, Amariah, and Isabella; one sister, Fanny; & two brothers, Jorge and Raúl. He is also survived by many relatives in Ecuador. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Gualberto and Jaime.

El Sr. Gonzalo Walter Gutiérrez, de 85 años, residente de Lawrence, falleció el viernes 27 de junio de 2025 en Lawrence General Hospital. Era el amado esposo de Geraldina Vargas Núñez.

Nacido y criado en Riobamba, Ecuador, era hijo de los difuntos Miguel A. Gutiérrez y Rosa H. Gallardo. Walter se graduó de la universidad con una licenciatura y trabajó durante muchos años como contador en una empresa exportadora de frutas en Ecuador.

Además de su esposa, le sobreviven sus tres hijos, Rafael, John y Francia; sus tres nietos, Kyamalie, Higinie y Rosangelie; sus cinco bisnietos, Jeremiah, Kaliyah, Kayliana, Amariah e Isabella; su hermana, Fanny; y sus dos hermanos: Jorge y Raúl. También le sobreviven numerosos familiares en Ecuador. Además de sus padres, le precedieron en la muerte sus dos hermanos, Gualberto y Jaime.
