Dionisio G. Fernandez

Mr. Dionisio G. Fernandez, age 80, of Lawrence, died on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Lawrence General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Paulina Gonzalez Jimenez, with whom he shared over 13 years of marriage.

Born in Hatillo Palma, Dominican Republic, he was the son of the late Juan Gonzalez & Consuelo Fernandez. He worked at Columbia University for 35 years and retired as a maintenance worker. He loved spending time with his family and traveling to the Dominican Republic. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing dominoes, scratching lottery tickets, and helping people in any way that he could.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Darline Fernandez, Dionis Fernandez, & Tyron Fernandez; two step-children, Paola Sanchez & Jenifer Sanchez; thirteen grandchildren, Rodney Arce, Isabella Mercado, Anthony Mercado, Joshua Olivera, Andrew Olivera, Emely Olivera, Jernesys Fernandez, Jenelly Adames, Ariana Alamo, Dilenny Fernandez, Lelanni Fernandez, Gabriella Fernandez, & Brigette Fernandez; two sisters, Maria Fernandez & Carmen Fernandez. He was also survived by many other relatives.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence on Monday, September 5, 2022 from 1 - 4 p.m. At the family's request, interment will be private.

El Sr. Dionisio G. Fernández, de 80 años, de Lawrence, falleció el sábado 3 de septiembre de 2022 en el Hospital General de Lawrence. Fue el amado esposo de Paulina González Jiménez, con quien compartió más de 13 años de matrimonio.

Nacido en Hatillo Palma, República Dominicana, era hijo de los fallecidos Juan González y Consuelo Fernández. Trabajó en la Universidad de Columbia durante 35 años y se jubiló como trabajador de mantenimiento. Le encantaba pasar tiempo con su familia y viajar a la República Dominicana. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba jugando al dominó, raspando billetes de lotería y ayudando a la gente en todo lo que podía. Además de su esposa, le sobreviven cinco hijos, Darline Fernandez, Paola Sanchez, Jenifer Sanchez, Dionis Fernandez y Tyron Fernandez; trece nietos, Rodney Arce, Isabella Mercado, Anthony Mercado, Joshua Olivera, Andrew Olivera, Emely Olivera, Jernesys Fernandez, Jenelly Adames, Ariana Alamo, Dilenny Fernandez, Lelanni Fernandez, Gabriella Fernandez y Brigette Fernandez; dos hermanas, María Fernández y Carmen Fernández. También le sobrevivieron muchos otros familiares.

Se invita a los familiares y amigos a asistir al horario de visitas en la Funeraria Diaz-Healy, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence, el lunes 5 de septiembre de 2022 de 1 p. m. a 4 p. m. A petición de la familia, el entierro será privado.
