Mr. Alfred “Al” J. L’Heureux, 89, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the High Pointe House in Haverhill, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Patricia (Soucy) L’Heureux, with whom he shared 17 years of marriage. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and music.
Born in Biddeford, Maine, he was the son of the late Thomas Mayer & Marion L’Heureux. Alfred was a proud Marine, a Korean War veteran who served our country with honor and valor. After his service, he pursued his craft as a skilled carpenter with passion and pride. Al’s true passion, however, was music. Known for his love of singing country tunes and playing the guitar, he could often be found entertaining at local clubs, nursing facilities, and family gatherings. His music brought joy to many and was a testament to his generous spirit and zest for life. A man who cherished his family above all, Papa Al never missed a milestone event or family function. He was a constant presence in the lives of his loved ones offering support, wisdom, and unconditional love.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, his memory will live on in our hearts and in the music that brought him and others so much joy.
In addition to his wife, Alfred is survived by six children, Robin Vita of Salem, MA, George Monty of Manchester, NH, Karen Rand of Derry, NH, Catherine Ciampa of Allenstown, NH, Roger Monty of Pembroke, NH, and Leah Nichols of Dracut, MA; his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Alexa of Derry, NH; one step-brother, Lenny Nadeau; and too many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to list. There was so much love!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Al’s memory to the hospice house in Haverhill, High Pointe House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill MA 01830.
