Alejandro Guillermo, 80, a long time resident of Brighton, MA, Manchester, NH and Lawrence, MA passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Bear Mountain Nursing Home in Andover, MA. His last days were surrounded by his loving family.
He was a native of Villa Duarte, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and was the second son of Teofilo Guillermo and Maria Adames. He had 15 siblings. Early in his life he was a Marine in the Dominican armed forces which eventually lead to his new life in the United States. In the Bronx, New York, his occupation included working for Oscar De La Renta and a cab driver. He and his family relocated to Lawrence, Massachusetts in the mid 1970s. They were of the first Dominican families in the City of Lawrence. There he worked with the Department of Public Works and in various other jobs. He was also instrumental in bringing Dominican musical artists and acts to perform in the city.
Alejandro enjoyed listening to and dancing to classic Dominican merengue and bachata. He enjoyed playing dominos and cards. He loved the Boston Red Sox and he enjoyed spending time with his large family.
He is survived by his five children, Mary Guillermo-Aubry and her husband, Jerry, Isabel Guillermo, Madeline Guillermo, Alejandro Guillermo Jr, Ramon David Guillermo, his 14 grandchildren, Antony Rogers, Jon Geronimo and his wife Isak, Clarence Saunders III, Bianca Geronimo, Cassandra Saunders, Nathanyl Guillermo, Xavier Guillermo, Gyanna Guillermo-Applewhite and her husband Lavell, Luis Guillermo, Tiana Guillermo, Yazmin Guillermo, D’Jay Guillermo, Jezebell Guillermo, Alexi Arias and his great grand-daughter, Ahlani Guillermo whom he loved dearly.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence on Tuesday, January 2, 2023 from 4 - 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held during visiting hours, beginning at 5 p.m. At the family’s request, interment will be private.
A Zoom link has been provided by the family. The link will be joinable at 4 p.m. until the end of the funeral service at approximately 6 p.m.
