Albertine Mendonsa Obituary

Tina Mendonsa, 93, of Lawrence, and longtime Lawrence resident, died peacefully Monday April 27th at her residence, the Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence, MA.

Tina was born on June 23, 1926 in Connors, New Brunswick, Canada. She was one of ten children of the late Albert and Marie Jandreau. Tina leaves a loving family. A sister, Lillian Moranto of Londonderry NH, three children, Lorraine Ciarcia of Andover Ma, Bob Richard and his wife Sandy, of Bradford NH, and Kevin Richard and his wife Jennifer of Danville NH. Tina also had 16 Grandchildren and many, many Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She had two, stepchildren. Ruth Brunelle and Tina Faulkner.

Tina moved to Lawrence at the age of 17 to begin her new life. She loved music and dancing all her life. Her Brother Eddie was her favorite dance partner in her younger years. She learned to play Guitar, Banjo and Harmonica while living with her parents. She later learned the Piano and Organ with the help of her Husband George. She also had a lovely Soprano singing voice.

Tina worked hard all of her life. She worked as a factory worker during World War II, all the way into the 1960’s. At the age of 60, Tina earned her High school diploma by going to night school, while working full time as a Nurse’s aide.

Tina was a member of the Methuen Senior center and the Lawrence Choral Arts society for many years. She was also a member of Saint Patricks’ Church in South Lawrence and sang in their choir. She did all of these things with her late husband George Mendonsa.

Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Mary Immaculate Assisted living and Nursing home, who she came to love during these past 8 years of her residence there.

Due to the Corona Virus outbreak, there will be no funeral home viewing. The burial will take place with only family members present. Thank you for your understanding.
