Mr. Joseph E. Lopez, 76, of Methuen, died on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boston after battling lung complications following heart surgery.
He was born in East Cambridge, MA on January 16, 1942, as the fourth child of the late Anthony Lopez and Margaret Galvin.
Joseph proudly served in the US Marine Corps for 11 years, as a Interrogator-Translator (Vietnamese), Interrogator-Translator (Mandarin Chinese), and Marine Corps Recruiter from 1959 to 1970. He also proudly served an additional 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Army Culinary Specialist, and Administration Specialist from 1976 to 1985.
Joseph had a number of interests from psychology and human communications, to U.S. and world histories.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Rose Lopez of Holy Mary OCD (Ellen V. Lopez), and his brother, Anthony A. Lopez.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Rosabel (Escudero) Lopez, his siblings Teresa G. Aronson, William H. Lopez and his wife, Janine, Michael Lopez and his wife Elizabeth; and his two sons, Joseph E. Lopez Jr., and John P. Lopez; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday February 9th, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence. Church services will be held on Saturday, February 10th, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 118 South Broadway, Lawrence.
