Anne M. Ferland

Mrs. Anne Marie (Morrissey, Barker) Ferland, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at her home in Haverhill. Born in Cork Ireland she was adopted by Nora Morrissey shortly after birth. Anne immigrated to the United States when she was eleven years old. She graduated from Andover High School class of 1967 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from UMass Boston and a master’s degree from Salem State College. She worked for many years at Liggett's drugstore in Andover. Anne began her career in education in 1971, working in Dorchester, Andover, Lawrence, the Migrant Program, and Gould Electronics retiring in 2012.

Anne never lost her connection to Ireland, she visited family and friends there as often as possible. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, gardening, day trips to Boston and the coast, knitting, crocheting and sewing, making many beautiful items for her children and grandchildren.

A faithful Catholic Anne attended Mass every week until her health no longer permitted it. She was an Active member of Saint George's Church in Haverhill for many years, including planning events and teaching CCD. More recently she was a member of Saint Patrick parish in Lawrence.

Anne was never happier than when she was with her family cheering on her favorite teams the Patriots and the Revolution. She loved collecting beautiful objects particularly china and crystal.

Anne is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Raymond Ferland; two daughters, Amanda Ferland and Mikaela Lalumiere & her husband Michael; two grandchildren, Andre and Arthur (who she shares her birthday with); a sister-in-law, Bridget McGrath; lifelong friends, Catherine O'Grady and Nell Whelan. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her mother, Nora Morrissey and brother, James McGrath.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. On Wednesday, January 9, 2019, Anne’s Funeral will begin at the funeral home at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Partrick Church, 118 South Broadway, Lawrence at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Haverhill.
