Edna C. (Wojnar) McMullen

Mrs. Edna C. (Wojnar) McMullen, age 101, of Lawrence, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at her home in Lawrence, which is where she was also born. She was the loving wife of the late Donald T. McMullen.

Born and raised in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Michael & Mary (Trull) Wojnar. She attended Holy Trinity School & Lawrence High School. In her younger years, she would enjoy tending to her beautiful garden and playing 45’s. She was a devoted parishioner of Holy Trinity & St. Patrick’s Church, when she could no longer attend church, she faithfully watched Mass everyday on TV. She was a devoted homemaker that had many part-time jobs over the years, including at Technical Impex and Cecile’s Fish & Chips, both in Lawrence. She had a passion for cooking, always making delicious dishes, her specialty was her homemade Polish recipes for Pierogi & Golumpki, that she would share with family & friends. After family, her greatest love was animals. She had numerous pets throughout her life, including the stray cats that moved in with her last year.

She was a very warm & caring person who could always make friends wherever she was. She was very lucky to have good friends & family in California, Nevada, Connecticut & Massachusetts, who continued to stay in touch with her throughout the years.

The McMullen family would like to add a special thank you to the staff at Mary Immaculate Rehab, for their kindness & patience during Edna’s recent brief stay.

She is survived by two sons, John McMullen & his wife Melinda of Amesbury & Don McMullen of Methuen; one daughter, Kathy McMullen a lifelong resident of Wrentham Developmental Center; two grandchildren, Chris & Michaela McMullen. In addition to her husband & parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Frank, Stanley, Walter, John & Emily Wojnar.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence from 10 - 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private. Edna requested for everyone who is going to attend her funeral services that they be dressed in casual clothing.
